Power user within the world of computer system technology is define as people who are working in a large industrial section which requires state of the art technology of a well developed computer program to create special effect regardless of any hardware and software they are using. On the 3rd week of my assignment I am going to discuss more specifically on each type of hardware and software within the power user circle. First lets take a look on a software definition, software is the common terms used to organized wide variety of computer collection data and instruction. There are 2 parts of software available;
1. System software – non task, specific function of computer, use of control, integrate and managing hardware of computer system to see its function as functional unit eg; transfer data through from memory disk. System software consist of operating system and utilities like disk format, file manager, text editor, management tools, networking, and device control software second part of application software is running computer system, accomplishing task through software package like; spreadsheet, text processing system, software suite, Microsoft office would be the one which works closely with integrated word process.
There are many types of computer software that power user use depending on their work purposes includes; audio, CD ROMS, database, financial tax software, games application, freeware, graphic and multimedia, mapping, document management, office suites, open sources, photo and video, presentation, security, shareware, spreadsheets, telephony, utilities, voice recognition, windows, words processing, still heaps to mention.
For the present time being I would like to discuss on the benefits, objective, pitfalls, along with strength and weaknesses on the most commonly used preferred software as one of the best among others in the market;
1. For media players is WINAMP or MP3 player allowing us to organizing, playing synchronizing, media to this device, launched back initially in 1997 now its been transform into media manager, win amp is an audio and video player that has and retain its ability to support media formats, its function includes CD ripping / burning, playlist, easy access to I pod which led to I tunes. The rest of media players devices are also up and running in the market including I tunes 8 series, Microsoft windows media player series 11, jet audio series 7, media juke box series 12.
2. Business presentation and multimedia authoring software for windows use to create business presentation games, CD, DVD, There are lots of different type however I am just going to be discussing the most common ones; Director – applies to windows and Mac with standard minimum to create and deliver powerful multimedia, power point – windows use only specialized in graphic presentation of Microsoft. Presentation publisher can be used in windows only – creating digital multimedia business presentation with 100 digital effects, media works – applies to windows and Mac user creating videos, slide shows, web filming interactive, CD rom content features includes timeline interface, bounded animation, sounds, etc.
3. Adobe photo shop tolls – located in photo shop tool bars and menu in working software useful to facilitate design and improve work flow these are the types of many different tolls; photo shop tools presets – creating tools preset pallete, area of copies or cropped. Marque tolls – to select image with 4 types of tolls here; rectangular, elliptical, single rows and columns, Crop tool – cutting out area we wish to keep handy for resizing images. Clone stamp tool – retouch photo by copying from one area of image to other area. Photo shop save web tools – easy way to prepare JPEG file required for the web, better capacity on file size and image quality.
4. Desktop publishing for professional use applies to windows and Mac. Best free desktop publishing software for general use in windows and Mac. For print creativity software applies to scrap book calendars, for graphics software use in publishing most common tolls and feature used are in grid, import or place graphics, import of place text and text wrap.
5. Essential software for security application to prevent malicious viruses transmitted as a contagious hazard are; Symantec and Mc afee – comes in preinstalled software package. Firewall – used in internet broadband connection with cable and DSL lines. Spyware adware and Malware known as edgy software threatening user by manipulating data from the system in order to obtain or pushing data. For web designer or graphics there are several popular images editing programs available such as adobe dimension for 3D, Adobe photo shop, the G imp applies to linux and windows with free download. IRFAN view creating slide shows as well as cutting and cropping graphics. Then less popular are coffee cup, image mapper, cute map.
6. Multimedia authority software – creating full blown games of interactive application. Business presentation software creating slide show, style presentation, over head transparency, reports, portfolios.
7. Outstanding free audio file splitter types are vary based on its feature and functions such as slide audio splitter, series 2, MP 3 cutter series 1.3 data doctor audio splitter series 2 available in MP3 WAV and WMA formats mainly these devices are use to split up large audio files in to smaller and manageable part.
8. High quality video editing programs includes; Avid Liquid 7 – comes in SD and HD video and surround sound with real time effects, adobe premiere pro – works in video format to support HDV, sonny XD cam Panasonic P2. Pinnacle studio ultimate version 12, sony vegas pro 8 are the less popular ones.
Within multimedia application windows media player is popular with its integrated Microsoft operating systems other common types which has been around in the market are; real player, I tunes to create CD or DVD media we can use roxio easy media creator and nero suite. To watch DVD – cyber link power DVD and inter video win DVD. To watch television inter video now offers new package called home theater 2 featuring; TV recording, video playback etc, power cinema 5 – comes from cyber link to record playback TV shows etc.
9. Fine tunes – known as digital music player and social network from this device we are able to create various play list. Digital music service fine tune has launched their new gadget called fine tune desktop – useful in making stream music from online service to Mac or PC. Its runtime software called Apollo comes within integrated part in fine tune desktop leverage adobe – able to extend flash html, AJAX.
10. Glide presenter series 2.0 known as new released from google presentation replacing power point inviting us and other people to collaborate at our work. Certainly work on internet explorer and firefox.
11. Personal info manager – PIM act as an outlook when we best describe software and PDA in hardware helpful to organize business info. PIM uses pen and paper able to store all data in one places and have easy access to our data. Power users can browse on the net using PIM and record voice messages.
Within wireless networking environment several ways must be focus on in keeping power user to stay on top. These several steps are include; staying safe online, improve network performances, using virtual private network, remote access, using P2P and file sharing network along with internet proxy serves keep a track on internet application trends.
Now I am moving in to my second topic of computer hardware known as physical part of computer following instruction on what software has given inside. Several crucial part of hardware in a PC we must all know by now are;
1. Central processing unit – known as CPU consist of main memory expansion card.
2. Power supply – transformer voltage control, IAN
3. Graphics controller – output for monitor.
4. Hard disk – floppy disk drives for mass storage.
5. Storage controllers – CD ROM, IDE SCSI.
6. Inter face controllers – such as parallel serial USD fire wire that is connecting PC to external peripheral devices like scanners and printers.
The hardware which applicable o power user also include in a proper PC works station set up. Following factors like poor posture, incorrect ergonomic info will contribute to improper set up.
So relatively good ergonomic equipment and practices can guide us in our work making our life even more enjoyable it’s a personal thing means what work for other people might not work for us, so we must use experimentation and theory using today mechanics and firm baseline. Besides that position of keyboard must be at negative angle following our wrist t remain straight whilst sitting in reclined posture.
Other parts of hardware gadgets that power user also use in nowadays are PDA – palm hand held use PDA because it synchronized with windows based PC out of the box. In other words PC user own total flexibility when it comes to choose their handheld according to their specific needs. PDA can synchronized with windows mobile PDA through 3rd party software like packet Mac. Latest release from American industrial system shows ultra rugged mobile PDA featuring MIL-STD-810 F series which are specifically design for environmental engineering military and defense, transportation and logistics and industrial manufacturing is now available on the market. Price starts from USD 1,899 so its not just for people working at the office using PDA since technology becoming increasingly demanding regardless of financial meltdown people who serves the army are able to use the same device in slightly different design.
Basic features and benefits includes; resistive built in touch screen, GPS built in available in OS, windows CE 5.0, and mobile series 6.1 port array for connectivity and expansion. There are still many more benefits we can get as influential power users among others through this magnificent gadgets, those are just some features we should have known already.
